Stop Pretending That Network Marketing Is Easy!

Stop Pretending That Network Marketing Is Easy

Too many network marketers make the mistake of telling everyone how easy network marketing is, without realising just how damaging this is to their business.

Sure, when you consider what many people around the world have to do to earn a basic living, network marketing is easy. Really easy. I definitely prefer it to the hard factory work and pit mining that my parents did to put food on our table!

But most people don’t think in terms of what their ancestors or people in other countries class as hard work. When they hear the word ‘easy’, they think they won’t have to work.

The truth is, anyone who wants to be successful in network marketing will need to treat it as a business and must be prepared to put in the time and effort that it takes to make any business successful.

By pretending that network marketing is easy, you are doing your prospects a disservice and while you may grow your team quickly, you will likely find that most of your team members take little, if any, action before quickly dropping out.

Why would you expect them to put in the work necessary when you have promised them an easy way to make money?

It’s much more effective to be upfront about the work that is needed in order to become successful – the highest income earners in any network marketing company are the people who take their business seriously and work at it each day, not the ones who sporadically contact a prospect or two, or only work when they are ‘in the mood’.

Sure, by telling your prospects that they will need to take their business seriously, you will probably end up with fewer team members, but the ones who do join your team will have a greater chance of success because their eyes are open to the consistent work required.

In turn, you will have fewer lazy team members sucking up your time and will be able to work closely with the committed team members who are taking action.

So, do yourself and your prospects a favour, and stop pretending that network marketing is easy.

To your success

Are You Looking For Reasons Why Or An Alibi?

Are You Looking For Reasons Why Or An Alibi?

I believe there are two groups of people in the world – people who are focused on taking action towards their goals, and people who are focused on finding reasons why they can’t take action towards their goals.

This second group of people spend their whole lives looking for their alibi – the reason why they can’t possibly do, or have done, something. Now, alibis are useful things, and if the police ever turn up at your door to question you about a crime… your stress levels will stay a whole lot lower if you have a good alibi.

But too many people are creating fool-proof alibis in other areas of their life, usually to explain their own inaction. You definitely know people who routinely do this, and you’ve probably done it yourself at least occasionally.

Alibis are used by people to explain why they haven’t risen to live their dream life – whatever that may be to them. They couldn’t do it because:

  • They grew up in a bad neighbourhood

  • Their parents didn’t love them

  • They fell pregnant too young

  • They never had anyone believe in them

  • They didn’t have the time

  • They didn’t have the money

  • They didn’t try hard enough at school so never got a degree

  • They were told their dreams were silly and unrealistic

  • Their spouse didn’t support their dreams

  • They used to have a drug problem

And there are probably a million other alibis that people around the world are using to excuse them from moving towards their goals.

If you’re in the habit of looking for alibis, it’s time you realised there are no alibis. Every single alibi listed (and all those not listed) can be overcome and even used to your advantage, if you’re only willing to acknowledge the fear you possess about stepping towards your dream life, and begin finding reasons why you can do it.

It’s your choice.

But here’s the sad truth about people who find, and use, alibis to excuse them from achieving their dreams: they hurt nobody but themselves. Not the parents who didn’t love them, or the spouse who mocked them, or the children who bullied them at school. And while they continue through life with their chosen alibi ready to be used if anyone should question their lack of achievement, they know that ultimately they could have done more, done better, tried harder.

What a crushing realisation to live with. What a way to waste a life.

You deserve much better!

The Network Marketing Success Checklist
2/2/2009 3:26:36 AM

The Network Marketing Success Checklist

If you’re not having the success you want in network marketing, or aren’t filled with excitement about the business you are in, run through this checklist and see which areas you are neglecting. Success finds those who practice success habits consistently.

  1. Be grateful – you are involved in an opportunity that can give you the financial freedom to achieve every dream you can possibly think of. In other countries, there are people who work harder every single day than you will ever have to, just to try and have a basic standard of living – put things in perspective.

  2. Seek out positive thinkers – there are too many dream stealers out there, and they’re usually the people who have never seriously tried to make a success of their own lives. Guard yourself against these people as if their words are actual physical weapons. Instead, seek out positive people who are striving for (or have already achieved) success – they will encourage and support you instead of dragging you down.

  3. Ask corporate staff for support – your network marketing’s corporate team are there to assist you. Always treat them with respect and courtesy, and enquire about the support they can offer you. While they don’t have the field experience of building a network marketing business, they often have time, resources and even money that must be used to support certain associates – usually, it’s just the associates who make themselves known and request the support who receive it.

  4. Be excited – one of my own mentors says that ‘90% of success is simply being excited’. Being excited changes your physiology and informs everyone you connect with (even by letter or eMail, your excitement still comes across) that they better pay attention. Excitement is contagious!

  5. Be a product of the product – you’ve heard this one a million times, right? But are you doing it consistently? If your company offers multivitamins, you’d better be using their range and not an alternative brand. If you’re not using the products yourself, how can you expect to convince anyone else to spend their money on them?

  6. Always learn – never assume that you know it all or that you’re too busy to spend time learning more. This is a deadly mistake to make. If you have committed to becoming successful, you will need to invest in your education and personal development. Change your bedtime novel for a network marketing book, treat your car as a University on wheels by listening to audio programmes from the greats.

  7. Stop blaming – you don’t need a bigger home office, a different upline or more time. People have succeeded in worse circumstances than you. Stop making excuses and just make it happen.

  8. Be committed – get rid of that little voice in the back of your mind that says things like ‘well, if it doesn’t work out, my job isn’t that bad’ – you must be 100% committed to your success, to the extent that failure is simply not an option.

  9. Plan your time – always know in advance the hours you will spend on your business tomorrow, and the actions you will take. Keep a to do list and check things off as you complete them. Don’t stop work until your list is completed.

  10. Limit distractions – take your business seriously. Have a designated work area if possible, and close the door to that area when you are working. Make sure friends and family know when you are working and that they can’t ring for a chat or pop in for a coffee. Turn off the TV, put the dog away, and focus on your to do list.

  11. Increase your energy – before starting work, get yourself into a state of peak performance. Exercise, turn the music up, dance.

  12. Be professional – be on time (if you’re not five minutes early, you’re late in my opinion), ring people when you say you will, send eMails or letters promptly, dress appropriately (I like to dress for the other person’s comfort – a suit isn’t always the best option), turn your mobile phone off when in meetings, make sure your car and house are clean and tidy if people will see the inside of them, don’t spread gossip or talk negatively about other people.

  13. Don’t listen to criticism – being a critic is the easiest job in the world and every business, product and person in the world has critics. Trust your decision to believe in your company and it’s products.

  14. Prioritise – following up with a prospect who has expressed interest is more important than tidying your desk, walking the dog or making another cup of coffee. Don’t put off the tasks that intimidate you – you’ll feel a huge sense of accomplishment by tackling them first, and you’ll realise that actually they’re not as scary as you imagined

  15. Don’t criticise other network marketing companies – just as you’re convinced your company is the best, so each associate is convinced that their company is the best. You won’t convince anyone to leave their company for yours by criticising theirs (and if you did, you have a fickle team member who will probably leave your company just as easily), you just make yourself look mean and unprofessional.

  16. Take massive action – it’s not good enough to just talk the talk – commit to a massive action plan for 90 days and see how your business grows.

  17. Watch what people do – don’t listen to what prospects and team members say, watch what they do. Just because they tell you they are serious, that doesn’t mean they actually are. Are they putting in the action to prove they’re serious? Don’t waste too much time on people who say the right thing but make no action.

  18. Know your goals – write your goals out each day to keep them fresh in your mind. Make a dreamboard and have it on display in your home.

  19. Risk failing publicly – tell everyone your goals. Some people will help you achieve them. But there’s no bigger motivator than making yourself accountable in such a public way.

  20. Have fun – sharing quality products and an amazing opportunity to earn extra money is hardly a tough job. Enjoy what you do and, when you start to feel nervous about making a phone call or presentation, remember what people around the world are having to do to earn a living. Smile, you’re in a great industry!

To your success!

Build Your Network Marketing Business In Just 1 Hour Per Day
1/30/2009 3:10:57 AM

MLM Training – Build Your MLM Business In 1 Hour Per Day

For many people, building a network marketing business has to be done on a part-time basis, at least to begin with. Lots of people are still working at a job, raising children or having to meet other commitments that take up their time, and while network marketing can in time provide lifestyle freedom, the majority of people have only a few hours each week to spend on their new business.

Here are some of my best tips to help you succeed in network marketing in as little as 1 hour per day:

  • Part-time, not sometimes – whether you can spare 10 hours a day or 1 hour a day, your network marketing business needs to be worked on consistently. Successful network marketers are the people who work on their business every single day, even when they would prefer to be watching TV or seeing friends. You must treat your network marketing business as a real business and respect the commitment you have made to your own success. That means meeting your daily or weekly time commitment, no matter how small or large it is.

  • Plan – the fewer hours you have available to dedicate to your business, the more crucial it is that you plan your time in advance. Invest in a diary and block out the time you will spend on your business. Give this time the same importance you would give time you committed to work for an employer. Break down each chunk of time and plan exactly what you will get done in that time – but be realistic about how much you can physically achieve in that time, as setting unrealistic goals and failing to meet them will only knock your confidence. Do this in advance – I recommend planning each day’s chunk of time no later than the day before.

  • Avoid distractions – make sure your friends and family know when you are working on your business. If your children are used to you being on call to them 24/7, or your friends are used to calling in uninvited for coffee, you will need to be strict with them. Explain that your business is important to you and that you need their support – which means respecting your work times. Try to have a dedicated area where you can work undisturbed with the door closed. Turn off the TV, ask your spouse or flatmate to turn the music down, make sure the dog has been taken out for a wee before you start work. It’s amazing just how quickly your time can be eaten up by distractions.

  • Focus on action items – there are four areas your actions should be focused on; prospecting, following up with prospects, enrolling new customers or team members, and training new team members. You should be trying to do a mix of these four items each day, depending on demand (if you’re new to network marketing, you might not have any team members to train yet, etc). Notice that these action items don’t include researching your great product, checking your eMails, seeing who has joined Friends Reunited, or reading about a new marketing method you might use.

  • Take advantage of conference calls – if you only have 1 hour to spend on your business each day, that limits how many people you can directly speak to and explain your business or products to. The best network marketing companies will have regular conference calls, or even a 24/7 information line that your prospects can dial into to learn more. You can then follow up with them after the call, and while they might have spent 20-30 minutes listening to the conference call, you were able to spend that time doing other things.

  • Delegate – your network marketing success will benefit your whole family, so I believe it’s only fair to involve them and ask them for help. It might be that your children can start to make their own beds and tidy their own rooms, giving you more time to spend on your business. Depending on their age, they might even be able to cook dinner some evenings or deliver business leaflets for you. Could your spouse take the children out to the park at the weekend to give you some more free time? How about asking your friends to carry some of your business cards to leave in public places or hand out to people they think might be interested in what you are doing?

While it may be daunting to have such a limited amount of time to focus on your network marketing business, you are perfectly able to succeed as long as you make the best use of your time. An organised person working one hour a day will achieve more than a disorganised, highly distracted person who has all day every day to devote to their business.

To your success!

5 Reasons Why Network Marketing Is A Great Choice During The Economic Crisis

5 Reasons Why Network Marketing Is A Great Choice During The Economic Crisis

Most people’s lives are being affected by the current economic crisis. As living costs increase and job security disappears, many people are considering beginning their own home business. But is now a good time to join a network marketing business, they wonder?

Times of economic crises are actually the perfect time for people to join network marketing businesses, and here are five reasons why:

  1. Corporate employment is not secure. It often takes an economic crisis to remind people that by relying solely on working for someone else as their means of generating income, they hand over all control to someone else. The current economic crisis is leading to people in all sectors losing jobs that they imagined were secure. Hopes of finding alternative employment are often bleak, as companies are not hiring and so many people are competing for the few vacancies that do arise. Joining a network marketing business allows you to create an extra income that you control, giving you and your family a comfort blanket against economic problems or even a way out of employment completely.

  2. Employees rarely achieve financial freedom. Being an employee means having your income limited by someone else. Even professional careers that are relatively well-paid have a maximum limit that people can hope to earn in that field. This limit affects every aspect of a family’s life, from the area they are able to rent or buy housing in, to the quality food they are able to buy and eat, to the car(s) they drive and even the number of children they can afford to have. During economic crises, employees begin to realise that they have compromised their living standards in exchange for a job security that was actually a myth – network marketing allows you to decide how much you would like to earn and never limits you. Whether you are wanting an extra $100 a month or an annual income of $1 million, you can do so through network marketing.

  3. More people are looking for an extra income. The wonderful thing about network marketing is that you are rewarded financially for helping other people achieve their own financial goals, and there are never more people wanting (and needing) to create an extra income than during economic crises. For the hundreds of thousands of families who have been affected by job losses and the rising cost of living, generating another form of income is no longer a nice idea or a possible dream for the future, it may be their only hope of feeding their family next month. As a network marketer, you can genuinely help people in this time of great need.

  4. Network marketers tend to be positive people. There is so much negativity surrounding us today, all of which has a cumulative toxic effect on our view of life. Network marketers are generally positive people who believe they can achieve their dreams. Just by joining such a positive community, you will find that you begin to focus on the good things more and put the negative news stories into a different perspective. Since depression increases dramatically during times of economic crisis, protecting your mental state from some of the negativity in the world is a sensible idea.

  5. Tax benefits. Beginning a network marketing business offers tax benefits that can see you receiving a nice tax refund at the end of the year. Guidelines vary depending on where you live, so do some research to see exactly how you would benefit from this by joining a network marketing business.

There has truly never been a better time in history to join a network marketing business and achieve your financial goals.

To your success

Why There Is No Secret Success System In Network Marketing

Why There Is No Secret Success System In Network Marketing

I always cringe slightly when I hear people telling new network marketers that they have to join a team where their upline mentor is successful and will offer them a system to follow to ensure their own success.

Let me tell you something: nobody else can ensure your success.

There is no secret success system in network marketing. Why? Because network marketers are human! We’re all different people, with individual strengths and weaknesses, and unique lifestyles.

Just imagine you join a network marketing company and your upline mentor is a whiz when it comes to website design. He’s perfected a system of building an attractive website and getting people to visit that site and join his team. He then has them log into that website to do all of their business training online.

Sounds great, huh?

That upline mentor has developed a success system that works for him. It allows him to use his strengths to build his business.

But will that success system work for you? Not if you have no website design skills!

You might, for example, be great at quickly building rapport with new people you meet, or be particularly confident on the telephone.

Should you ignore those strengths of yours and try to follow the system your upline mentor has developed for himself? Of course not! Doing so would make no sense.

The role of an upline mentor is to support you as you build your business. They will hopefully invest their time in encouraging you, answering your questions, giving you advice from their own experiences, pointing out any mistakes you’re making, etc.

But they cannot – and should not – hand you a step-by-step system to follow. Instead, they should work with you to identify your strengths and help you put together your own action plan to achieve success. They should respect your different strengths and take into account the lifestyle demands that are unique to you.

So, when considering joining a network marketing business, remember that the system your prospective upline mentor uses to build their business is not necessarily the way you will be building your own team.

And, here’s a hugely important thing to remember – when you succeed in network marketing, your upline mentor will not take the credit for your achievements. So, if you’re not seeing the success you hope for, don’t expect your upline mentor to take the blame for that either.

Nobody can ensure your success but you.

Go do it!

Show Your Network Marketing Prospects That You Care
1/21/2009 6:35:51 AM

Show Your Network Marketing Prospects You Care

What do you do when you find a new prospect for your network marketing business?

Most network marketers start talking. And then carry on talking. And then talk some more. They talk about their network marketing business opportunity and products. They might grab a DVD, leaflet or sample product pack from their briefcase and talk about that. They might have the prospect hold the leaflet or use the sample product, because they heard somewhere that involving your prospect in your presentation makes them more likely to say yes to you.

Some network marketers – not too many, but some – will then tell the prospect a bit about themselves. They’ll offer ‘their story’ of getting started in the business and how their life has been transformed.

And then, most network marketers will take a breath, and ask the prospect, “So, what do you think?”

What does the prospect think?! Honestly?!

He probably thinks:

  • You’re dull

  • You talk too much

  • He could never remember all the information you just gave him if he did join your business

  • How is all of that information relevant to him?

Here’s a much better way to act when you find yourself speaking to a new prospect.

It’s simple. It requires less memorisation of facts and statistics. It requires less talking.

Just act as if you care. Heck, scrap that; care about your prospect and act in a way that is congruent with that.

So, let’s say you have done some advertising (online or offline) to attract new team members. Your phone rings one day and it is Johnny Prospect. He’s seen your advert.

Firstly, you want to treat Johnny Prospect very well, because he has taken action (seen your advert and contacted you) to qualify himself as a prospect. But he probably isn’t ready yet to join your team – this conversation is vitally important.

So Johnny Prospect introduces himself and says he has seen your advert and would like to know more. Here is where most network marketers go off into, “well Johnny, my company offers the highest quality junk and has been established for 7 years and makes $27 trillion a week and gives back 22% of its profit to people like me who work alongside the company sharing, not selling, but sharing the high quality junk…”

Woah… take a breath!

Here’s what I recommend you do instead.

It’s simple – like most of the best ideas out there. So don’t undervalue it because of its simplicity.

Johnny Prospect rings you.

He says: “erm, hi, this is Johnny Prospect. I just saw your advert about starting a home business and I’d like to learn more.”

You say…

Are you ready for this?

You say: “Hi Johnny, thanks for calling. My name’s Katie. So, the advert caught your interest? That’s great, why don’t you tell me more about yourself?”

Do you see how much more powerful that is than launching into some (obviously) standard speech?

Immediately, you are shifting the conversation to Johnny’s favourite subject – himself! This is the quickest way to build rapport, show Johnny you care, and get Johnny to like and trust you.

You’re also gathering important information about him. With a few non-intrusive questions, you can learn about Johnny’s background, what in his current situation he is unhappy with (working too many hours, not earning enough, feeling unappreciated by his employer), and what he wants to achieve in a home business.

Too many network marketers focus exclusively on the financial benefits possible. Not everyone is motivated by money. Johnny Prospect might just want to work from home so he can watch his young family grow up. He might want to fulfil the potential that he feels is being wasted in his current job. He might want to move abroad.

Having Johnny Prospect talk to you about his ambitions, and then showing how your business opportunity can make his dreams reality, is incredibly powerful. How many people do you imagine talk to Johnny about his dreams? Anyone?

And yet by focusing on your company and your products, you’ll never hear what is important to Johnny. Therefore, you’ll never become important to Johnny.

If you want your prospects to care about your opportunity, you have to first show them that you care about them.

Go do it!

How NOT To Make A Sale!
1/19/2009 8:04:50 AM

Katie Williams

Hey!

I just had to share this...

A few days ago, a gentleman came to our door to ask if we were interested in receiving a free quote for a new soffit and fascia.  Steve answered the door and told the man that we weren't considering having that done at the moment.  The man said that they had someone in the area this week giving quotes that they would honour for 6 months, and so Steve said OK.

A couple of days later, the salesman turned up.

Perhaps I should explain that the interest and knowledge Steve and I have in soffits and fascia amounts to, erm, zero.  So we were expecting him to look at the soffit and fascia and give us a quote - we thought it would take a minute or two and would be done in the porch.

Well, we were wrong.

The salesman came into the living room and insisted we both stay and listen.

First Mistake - he stank of cigarette smoke.  I actually sprayed air freshener in the room when he had left!  I don't want any salesperson in my home smelling of anything other than a subtle perfume or aftershave.  Since I'm a non-smoker, and heavily pregnant, that got him off on the wrong footing with me.

He then launched into his sales pitch - educating us about soffit and fascia, and even using a scaled-down model of a house for demonstration purposes.  This lasted around 30 minutes.

Second Mistake - he was incredibly dull.  His talk was completely focused on the features of his product, not the benefits we would gain by using it.  And we had no interest in what he was saying!

He then went outside and looked at our soffit and fascia, and came back in to write our quote.

The quote was for around £4,500.

He asked what we thought of it.

Steve decided to be honest, and said we had absolutely no knowledge in the area, so the quote could have been for £1,000 or £10,000 and we wouldn't really have known whether it was a bargain or a rip-off.

This angered the salesman, who became very defensive about how, considering all of the features he'd already discussed with us, it was a very good price.  Steve repeated that we hadn't had any expectations in terms of price and so couldn't say whether it was a good or bad price.

Third Mistake - the customer is always right!  Don't become defensive.  A much better way of handling the situation would surely have been, "the job will cost £4,500, and you could definitely find companies who would charge less than that, but we do use the highest quality materials and offer a 20 year guarantee while our competitors generally offer a 5 year guarantee.  Our motto is to do the job well so it only needs doing once".

We thanked him for his time and explained that we weren't considering having the job done yet, but that we would save the quote and consider it in the summer.  He didn't like this at all.  He was clearly here to make a sale, whether we wanted to buy or not.

He began to tell us that if we wanted to book in now to have it done in April... Steve interrupted him and said, "if you're going to discount the price, it's still not something we'll consider before the summer, if that saves you some time".  The man carried on, saying he could give us a 20% discount.

Fourth Mistake - this is my pet hate with all salespeople... tell me the price, the lowest price, and stick to it.  I hate the idea that just by saying 'no' to something a few times, you can end up paying so much lower than someone who accepts the first price offered.  As soon as he offered this discount, he lost any future order from me.

We stood our ground and said we wouldn't be considering the work until the summer.  The salesman said, "so there's nothing I can offer to make it affordable for you today?"

Fifth Mistake - how dare he assume that our reasons for not ordering immediately were financial?

There were other things... but he eventually left and, should we decide in the summer that we want our soffit and fascia doing, his company will not be getting our business.

This salesman obviously hadn't heard Bob Burg's saying; "people do business with those they know, like and trust".  Maybe his company are the best around, maybe they are the cheapest... none of that matters now because he was so unlikeable.

Hopefully I've never come across as badly as he did!

Why Hotel Meetings Shouldn't Be Used By Network Marketers & MLMers
1/19/2009 5:50:03 AM
Why Hotel Meetings Shouldn’t Be Used By Network Marketers

Hotel meetings have been used by network marketers for decades, and some very successful network marketers swear by this technique of recruiting new team members, but I believe that it is actually one of the worst ways of building your business.

Here’s why:

  1. Hotel meetings go against the fact that network marketing is a people business – inviting prospects to a large, impersonal meeting contradicts everything you will then try to tell them about how network marketing doesn’t involve selling and is instead focused on meeting people’s needs.

  2. Hotel meetings cannot be duplicated – most guests will be watching your presentation and thinking how they couldn’t lead such a meeting. More people are scared of public speaking than they are of dying! If you hold a hotel meeting you will absolutely lose potentially successful team members because they think in order to be successful, they would have to be standing at the front of the room speaking to a large group!

  3. Hotel meetings are expensive – one of the great advantages of network marketing over other business start-ups is the low cost. But leading a hotel meeting each week, fortnight or month significantly increases the cost of running your business. Depending on how much you charge guests, and how many people turn up, you either lose money (which most people can’t afford to do regularly) or make money (which isn’t the idea of network marketing).

  4. Hotel meetings create dependency – network marketing works best when independence is encouraged. Leaders succeed based on their ability to develop independent leaders within their team. By having a prospect attend a hotel meeting that you organise, pay for and lead, you send out the message that all they have to do to become successful is invite people along to the same meeting each week and let you do the work for them. There are a number of problems with this. Firstly, if this new team member has joined on the basis of not needing to do much work, they probably won’t continue inviting people to the meetings after having a couple of people say they’re not interested. And secondly, the whole thing collapses whenever you go on holiday, fall ill or decide to take a few months or years off.

  5. Hotel meetings can cause embarrassment – low turnouts at hotel meetings are not uncommon, and it’s easy to see why. Even if you are expecting a full house, the temptation for your guests to stay home will be very strong. They’re probably already working 40 hours a week and – if they’re honest – all they want to do on a Thursday evening is grab some dinner and relax with their family. Maybe it’s a cold, dark evening; maybe petrol prices are on the increase; maybe they didn’t sleep too well the night before. If you’ve ever arranged a one-to-one meeting with someone at your home, you know how frustrating it is when they don’t turn up. Imagine how much worse it would be if you had hired a room for 100 people and had just 2 turn up.

  6. Hotel meetings are not private – it’s estimated that around 25% of people will not attend a network marketing hotel meeting even if they are seriously interested in the opportunity. Doctors probably won’t attend in case they bump into patients, lawyers won’t want to see their clients at the meeting, teachers won’t want to risk running into their pupils’ parents. Some executives may be worried about their employers finding out they are considering a business. This is particularly true in smaller communities where everyone seems to know everyone else, but even in large towns or cities, many people will want to make a decision about joining your team in private, not at a large, public event.

Instead of hotel meetings, focus on prospecting tools that allow you to give individual attention to prospects. Your prospecting tools should reflect the advantages of network marketing – low-cost, people-focused, duplicable.

Go do it!

5 Reasons You're Not Succeeding in Network Marketing

5 Reasons You’re Not Succeeding in Network Marketing

It’s hard not to be disheartened if you’re not seeing the results you want from your network marketing business. But it’s crucial that you persist – nothing worth having comes easily or overnight.

Instead of giving up, be honest with yourself about reasons why you’re not having the success you want.

Here are five of the most common reasons people haven’t achieved the results they want:

  1. Unrealistic expectations – if you have set yourself the goal of reaching the top of your network marketing company in two months, whilst you have just two hours a week to build your business, you may have to accept that your goal is just not realistic. While having big dreams is a great motivator, setting unrealistic goals can cause disappointment. Speak to your upline and ask for their advice – they should be able to tell you how long on average it takes people to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Also, while network marketing businesses can be built part-time, I believe there is a minimum time commitment necessary to see results. If you are only spending an hour or two each week on your business, your progress may be so slow that it never builds momentum. Can you get up an hour earlier (or go to bed an hour later) each day? That would give you an additional seven hours a week to spend on your business.

  1. Not working hard enough / consistently – this is the reason people often don’t want to hear, but the fact is that some people are not successful because they are lazy. Do you work on your business consistently each day? Did you yesterday? The day before? How often do you avoid working on your business because you don’t feel like it or because there’s a good programme you’d like to watch on TV instead? You must treat your network marketing business as a business, not a hobby. You should plan what you will do tomorrow before going to bed tonight, so that you know exactly what needs doing as soon as you start work. You have to be tough on distractions – especially since most network marketers work from home. Have a designated work space and close the door while you are working. Turn off the TV, unplug the phone (unless you’re making calls), tell friends and family you’re working. You have to respect your time and your business workload as much as you respect the hours you spend in a job and the workload your employer expects you to do.

  1. Lack of confidence / belief – if you lack belief in your business opportunity or your product range, your ability to attract anyone to join your team or use your products will be inadequate. Picture one of the most successful associates in your company, preferably someone you have met, heard on a phone call or seen on a video. It’s obvious that that person has every belief in the company, every belief in the products, and every belief in themselves, right? Do you think they only developed that belief after they achieved their huge success, or did they achieve their huge success because they had that belief? It is absolutely crucial that you believe in your company, your products and yourself. How do you develop this belief?

    1. Belief in your company comes from reading success stories about other associates and mixing with other successful associates

    2. Belief in your products comes from your personal use of them initially, and is then added to as you receive great feedback from product users

    3. Belief in yourself comes from personal development and taking action. Do the actions you need to each day and you will get better at them, giving you better results and further increasing your belief in yourself

  1. Lack of prospects – often a network marketer’s lack of success is the result of them not consistently generating new prospects to talk to. What have you done today to generate new prospects for your business? What did you do yesterday? The day before? Your daily actions should be a mix of speaking to existing prospects, generating new prospects, and checking in with business builders and product users in your team. Neglect any of these areas and your business will suffer. Generating new prospects is too large an area to cover in this post, but look out for future articles. Also, sign up for my free 7 day eCourse on this subject at http://www.KatieAndSteveWilliams.com/eCourse.php

  1. No follow-up system – this is a huge weak area for many network marketers. The fact is, most people will not join your business or order your products the very first time you speak to them. But that doesn’t mean they never will. They might have some questions that need answering, they might have to check with their spouse, they might have to wait until payday. And yet many network marketers will forget about these prospects or, at best, offer some haphazard follow-up system of contacting the person when (or if) they happen to remember them. You must develop a consistent follow-up system that you use with every prospect. This begins with a central place where you store all of your prospects’ personal details and a log of the contact you have with them. I can’t tell you the best way to store this information or the best follow-up system to use as it will depend on your strengths (do you prefer to work with computers, or would papers in a physical filing cabinet work better for you?) and your individual business. It’s something you have to work out for yourself. Sure, it will take some time (don’t do this instead of the important action items you need to work on each day – take some additional time away from the TV or over the weekend) but it will be well worth it. If you don’t already have a follow-up system in place, part of your prospect generating work is being wasted because you’re allowing prospects to slip away from you before they have told you they are not interested. If you’re paying for any advertising (newspapers, online ads, even paying your child to post leaflets around town), you are literally throwing money away until you have this system in place.

To your success!

Building a warm list is one of the first things new network marketers are usually told to do. Your warm list basically refers to people you know – you shouldn’t prejudge whether they will be interested in your products or business opportunity at this stage.

How To Choose The Right Network Marketing Opportunity For You
1/14/2009 6:05:23 AM
Network marketing allows anyone to begin their own business and ultimately decide their own financial future.

However, with so many network marketing businesses out there, how do you decide which one is right for you? Here are my top 10 tips:-

How To Overcome Common Network Marketing Objections

Picture the scene. You’ve just joined a network marketing company with a pay plan and a product range that you believe in 100%. You now have the job of convincing other people that the products and/or business opportunity is as good as you say it is. You make your presentation, build your rapport, and wait for the prospect to sign on the dotted line… and, instead, they voice an objection.

Here are some of the most common objections that you will face during your network marketing career, and how to overcome them.

How To Multiply Your Network Marketing Income - A Step By Step Guide
1/13/2009 10:03:22 AM
One of, if not the, greatest benefit offered by network marketing is the potential to earn an unlimited income. So it’s hardly surprising that one of the most common questions network marketers have is:

“Dude, Where’s My Money?”

All too often the articles and advice on this subject are too vague for my liking. Sure, things like planning your work the day before, getting in touch with your goals and being persistent are all valuable tips, but they’re not as useful as a step by step guide.

So here’s the step by step guide you’ve been looking for.

Welcome!
1/8/2009 8:00:01 AM

Hello!

Welcome to our site - we hope that you'll enjoy learning more about who we are, what we do, and the wonderful lifestyle we are able to enjoy.

Here's a brief introduction to our life...

As full-time network marketers, we work together from our lovely home in Nottinghamshire, England.  We feel blessed every single day to be living a dream lifestyle - waking up when we choose, taking a 3 second commute across to the study, spending every day together doing work that we feel passionate about.

We're about to become even luckier, though.  As I write this, I'm six weeks away from having our first child (Steve has an amazing daughter, Gemma, who you'll get to know through this site); a daughter we are calling Aspen.  And I can't put into words how happy I am that my daughter will grow up with both of her parents at home full-time.

So this site will be a mix of a record of our life, information and advice about network marketing (and how to create your own dream life!), and I expect lots and lots of photographs... because what better way to build memories?

We're excited to share our story with you and hope you will be inspired to reach out for the dream life you deserve.

Speak soon!
